Pervez Ghauri completed his PhD at the Department of Business Studies, Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden (specialising in Marketing and International Business). He was also awarded an Honorary Doctor of Economics degree by Turku School of Economics and Management, Finland in 2005. He taught Marketing and International Business in Uppsala University for more than 6 years and in the Norwegian School of Management, Oslo, Norway for four years, where he also served as Dean (Academic Affairs) for three years. He was also part-time professor of Marketing at Maastricht University in The Netherlands between 1990 and 1995.
His career then continued as head of the department and professor of Marketing and International Business at the Faculty of Management and Organisation, University of Groningen, The Netherlands. There, he was the Director for the International Business Programme for several years and from 1997 through 2000 he was Dean for the Faculty of Management. From May 2001 to May 2008 he was head of department and professor of International Business and Director for Centre for International Business Education and Research at the Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, UK.
Currently, Pervez Ghauri is Professor of International Business at King's College London. He is head of the International Business, Marketing and Strategy group. Pervez Ghauri is the founding Editor-in-Chief of International Business Review since 1992 and editor (Europe) for the Journal of World Business, since 2008. He is also and editor of the International Business and Management book series by Elsevier Science.
