Following a successful career in banking, Pervez Ghauri completed his PhD at the Department of Business Studies, Uppsala University (Sweden) specialising in Marketing and International Business. Where he rose to Associate Professor of Marketing and International Business.

He then accepted the position as Dean  of Academic Affairs (Provost) at Oslo Business School (Norway), where Pervez developed and ran an MBA and Executive MBA program as Associate Professor of Marketing. During this time Pervez also worked as a visiting Professor of Marketing at Maastricht University (The Netherlands). 

Following the success of Oslo Business School and the subsequent merger with the Oslo School of Management in 1993, Pervez was appointed as Professor and Head of Marketing & International Business at the prestigious University of Groningen (The Netherlands). Where he launched several Master (MSc) programmes and led the Faculty of Management & Organisation as Dean between 1997-2000.  

Between 2001 and 2008 Pervez served as the Professor and Head of Department of International Business at the Manchester Business School, University of Manchester (U.K.). Pervez was tasked with forming the International Business group and in 2007 the Financial Times rated the International Business discipline at Manchester Business School as 5th in the world, 2nd in Europe and 1st in the U.K. In parallel, Pervez founded the Centre for International Business Research (CIBR) to encourage research and interaction with professionals and managers. In 2005 Pervez was also awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Economics by Turku School of Economics and Management (Finland).

Between 2008 and 2015 Pervez Ghauri was Professor of International Business and Head of the International Business, Strategy, and Comparative Management, at King's College London (U.K.). Where he also developed and launched a new Masters (MSc) in International Marketing. Which attracted more than 800 applications and admitted 68 students in the first year of it's inception. Pervez also redeveloped the MSc in International Management, which led to a 100% increase in applications and admitted students. 

In parallel to his academic career, Pervez has been the founding Editor-in-Chief of the International Business Review since 1992. And in 2008 Pervez accepted the role of Editor (Europe) for the Journal of World Business. Pervez is an active Board Member for both the European International Business Academy (EIBA) and the Academy of International Business - Worldwide (AIB). Where Pervez was also elected Vice President (AIB) between 2008 and 2010. Pervez is also fellow of AIB and EIB.
